- W2738138887 abstract "Abstract This paper presents the results of numerical investigations carried out to evaluate the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) for fiber reinforced Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs). Two approaches have been used in the evaluation of CTEs – Two dimensional Finite Element Method modeling technique and Axisymmetric Finite Element Method modeling approach. The front-end commercial software ANSYS 6.1 is adopted in the current investigation. The CTE values were obtained for varying volume fractions. The results obtained show a good agreement with closed form solutions.
