- W2739671693 abstract "The basic physical quantities and parameters used to certify pulsed lasers include the following: energy, a set of parameters characterizing beam quality (energy density distribution, divergence angle, beam width, the parameter M 2 , etc.), pulse duration, and wavelength. With the development of pulsed laser systems and their wider applications, it has obviously become necessary to measure the beam quality parameters, as well as the laser pulse energy. This, in turn, requires support for the uniformity of measurements of the parameters of laser radiation [1] and the creation of a national verification scheme for means of measuring these parameters. These means of measurement are included in equipment that contains pulsed lasers intended for welding, cutting of materials, surface hardening, laser marking, fabrication of integrated circuits, and the nondestructive monitoring of materials and finished pieces. When welding and cutting operations do not meet process specifications, the result is rejected. Monitoring process compliance is particularly important in the aviation, shipbuilding, automobile, and electronics industries. These means of measurement are also used in medicine as part of therapeutic, surgical, ophthalmological, and dermatological equipment for setting energy exposure and for monitoring the energy density of the laser radiation. The leading component of the verification scheme is the national primary special standard GET 187-2010 for the units of energy, energy density distribution, pulse duration, and wavelength of laser radiation, which reproduces, stores, and transfers the units to working standards. It includes instrumentation systems for each of the units it covers. These systems operate almost completely automatically and have broad functional capabilities, in particular, for calibration of optical and electrical energy at any point within their dynamic range and for extending the spectral range through modifications in the construction of the standard and the laser modules. The working standards are, as a rule, located in metrological centers and are used directly for calibration and verification of working means of measurement that are in operation. Transfer of the units of energy, energy density distribution, pulse duration, and wavelength to working standards and from them to working means of measurement is carried out by direct measurements of the quantity that is reproduced and stored by the national or working standards, respectively.
