- W2740763251 abstract "At least seven of the known species of bats in Arkansas generally spend part of the winter in caves, buildings, or hollow trees. They prefer caves, and are generally known as cave bats. The other species, which may be grouped together as tree bats, usually are not found in caves or buildings. They generally migrate south in the autumn. Whether bats enter a true hibernation during their winter residence in caves is not definitely known (Burbank and Young, 1934; Swanson and Evans, 1936; Rysgaard, 1942). The degree of dormancy varies considerably, even among individuals of the same species, and most species can be aroused quite easily from their state of torpidity." @default.
