- W2743011601 abstract "The importance of managerial beliefs for Work and Organizational Psychology has been made clear by many authors (e.g. Vroom and Yetton, 1973; Ouchi, 1981; Dickson, 1982; Long, 1988; Hermel, 1990; Truss et al., 1997). However, without doubt, the theory that Douglas McGregor proposed in 1960 is his book 'The Human Side of Enterprise' (last version in Spanish of 1994), is outstanding and has been used as a model on which a considerable part of the investigations on this theme have been based. As is well known, McGregor divided these beliefs into two main classes: Theories X and Y. Later, Kolb et al. (1971) reduced each of these Theories into 15 fundamental points. On the base of these suppositions the measuring instrument used in this investigation was formed to evaluate managerial beliefs of 249 managers. In this paper, our general objective will be to study the effects of managerial beliefs on participative management. The positive results reached will be discussed." @default.
