En Afrique de maniere generale et au Cameroun en particulier, on retrouve l’alcoolisme du aux boissons alcoolisees de fabrication artisanale, celui lie aux boissons de fabrication industrielle ou encore, l’alcoolisme lie aux deux modes de fabrication. L’alcoolisme est toutefois reste un domaine peu explore ou beaucoup reste a faire au Cameroun. But. Identifier les facteurs favorisant la consommation des boissons alcoolisees chez les etudiants camerounais. Methodologie. Il s’agit d’une etude transversale et analytique, menee dans les campus de l’Universite des montagnes (UdM), de l’institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) de BANDJOUN et de l’Universite de Dschang. La periode d’etude s’est etalee sur trois (03) mois. Nous avons inclus les etudiants regulierement inscrit au cours de l’annee academique 2011-2012. Les donnees etaient collectees a partir des fiches concues a cet effet et analysees a l’aide des logiciels Epi info version 6 et SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 16.0. Resultats : 787 etudiants ont ete recrutes. La prevalence de la consommation d’alcool etait de 87,93%. La personnalite la plus rencontree parmi les etudiants consommateurs d’alcool dans l’echantillon de notre etude etait la personnalite obsessionnelle (29,43%). Les autres facteurs contribuant le plus a la consommation d’alcool etaient l’âge des etudiants pour ce qui concerne l’Universite de Bangangte, leur personnalite et leur religion concernant l’Universite de Bandjoun et la religion des etudiants a l’Universite de Dschang. Conclusion : Bien que bien informes des effets de l’alcool sur la sante, les etudiants restent de grands consommateurs d’alcool. Les facteurs favorisant varient en fonction de chaque site universitaire.ABSTRACTContext: The consequences of the consumption of liquor in the short, medium or long term are the same as well in Africans, Asians as in Europeans. Nevertheless, this remained a less explored area, where much remains to be done in Cameroon. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors favoring the consumption of liquor among students. Materials and methods. This cross sectional analytic study was done in the Universite des Montagnes (UdM), the Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) of Bandjoun and at the campus of of the University of Dschang. The study period was three months; We included students who were registered during the academic year 2011-2012. Data were collected from the tools designed for this purpose and analyzed using Epi info version 6 and SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 16.0. Results. 787 students were recruited. The prevalence of alcohol consumption in university campus was 87. 93%. The dominant personality profile among alcohol consumers encountered in our sample was the obsessive compulsive personality (29. 43%). Other contributing factors to the consumption of alcohol were the age of students as found at the University of Bangangte, their personality and religion concerning the students of the University of Bandjoun and their religion, concerning students of the University of Dschang. Conclusion. Although knowledgeable about the effects of alcohol on health, students remain major consumers of alcohol. Risk factors vary according to each University, but include mainly age, type of personality and religion." @default.
