- W2743211204 abstract "1.IntroductionThe field of agents and agent-oriented programming tries to suggest different solutions in this aspect. As we shall see, an agent can be considered an independent object which can take initiative due do the perception capacity of the execution environment in which it is placed. Beyond the possible commercial applications, such as information search on the Internet in the name of the user, the autonomy opens the simulation gate of complex systems, especially in the economical, ecological, social and military field. The system is no longer described at the macro level (task that proves very difficult in most cases), but at micro level through agents with a simple structure. By many interactions of these components often emerge unplanned global behaviors in the individual agents. The Internet development led to many attempts to create a virtual market where the agents (controlled by man and equipped with intelligent algorithms) can participate in economic transactions of goods or shares. Many commercial companies and researchers have created systems based on intelligent agents, systems that are capable to perform online buying operations or to present goods and services offers on virtual catalogues. For example, there are several on-line buying systems of CDs such as Bargain Finder or FireFly (Nwana, 1996). Bargain Finder is an agent that is searching for CDs and audio cassettes in several on-line stores at the smallest prices. The system is actually a search system in a data base. Both Bargain Finder and FireFly are efficient searching systems but do not include all the infrastructure and mechanisms that the e-commerce needs. Kashbah, for example, is a system where the users can create autonomous agents that buy and sell goods in their name. For the virtual markets, the communication system must be built on an open standard in order to allow software developers to produce platform independent programs that can be included in virtual market architecture. Nevertheless, there are some communication and protocol restrictions that must be followed: the software agents must be capable to access newsletters with selling or buying offers, provided by other agents. The agents must use a common language of communication. A minimal language must include the presentation of offers, the answer to the offers, the negotiation and execution of transactions. If the agents are part of a team, then they must be able to communicate with the other members of the team. On the other hand, a communication infrastructure used to process electronic transactions must meet some basic requirements on security: users' confidentiality, data integrity, messages' authentication, non-repudiation.2.Electronic Commerce Based on Software AgentsThe search engines obtain too much links as the answer to the users' requests. This issue limits the usefulness of these search engines and at a certain point it becomes difficult to distinguish the useful data from the irrelevant data. Some improvement solutions of this situation were brought by the software agents. We presume that in the near future the e-commerce shall become a commerce based on software agents. This type of e-commerce is defined as a type of commerce where each participant has an agent that executes the given tasks. In an e-commerce based on software agents we find buying, selling, negotiation agents and communication channels between the agents. An advantage of performing Internet purchase is that the buying operations are made at the cheapest price and the user has several offers at different prices. The purpose of using the agents is to transform the buying process in an intelligent process and to provide the buyer an abundant offer at an attractive price. The use of software agents is also beneficial for the sellers through the decrease of costs related to selling and the increase of the customer data base. A buying agent automatically collects information from producers and products. …" @default.
