- W2745139313 abstract "In 1985 the Liverpool City Council in New South Wales received a Commonwealth Employment Program (CEP) grant to conduct an oral history of the region According to its brief the project aimed to increase community identity and pride and promote discussion about the value of Liverpool. A more tangible aim of the project that emerged was to use oral sources to fill gaps in the region's local history collection. The most significant gap was between 1900 and 1945. I was employed as the Project Co-ordinator with three full-time researchers to assist me. As the project was a CEP, the researchers were located by the Commonwealth Employment Service. I was extremely fortunate to be able to employ an Italian speaking woman with secretarial skills, a Yugoslav woman with an 'enthusiastic approach to the project and an older woman who had an Arts degree and an Archival diploma. The combination of skills and personalities can be an extremely important factor in determining the success of a project." @default.
