- W2753625112 abstract "absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy is one of the fundamental methods for chemical analysis, which has been developed dramatically with the advent of synchrotron radiation. XAFS can be divided into two methods according to their energy regions. XAFS in the near edge region is called, X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and that in the energy region is called, extended absorption fine structure (EXAFS). Both provide information of local atomic and electronic structures of a specified atomic element, though the analytical method is different from each other. In this chapter, firstly, fundamental aspects of XANES and EXAFS are briefly described. Secondary, experimental techniques developed for nanolayer analyses are described, such as depth-resolved, space-resolved, and time-resolved XAFS. Some typical applications to green chemistry are also addressed." @default.
