- W2754697686 abstract "The objectives of this study were: (a) to describe how teacher assess student speaking by the eighth grade students of Hikmatul Fadhillah junior high school students., and (b) to describe the reason why the teacher assesses students’ speaking skill the way he/she does. The subject of this study were an English Teacher. The research was conducted by qualitative research. The data were collected through the following instruments: observation, recording and interview. Then the data were analyzed by using Harris and Carroll model of Assessment Technique. The results of this research were the following, (a) in assess students’ speaking teacher used some process, in meeting 1 and 2 there are exploration, elaboration, and confirmation and in 3 and 4 meeting teacher start to assess students’ speaking skill and it was found that teacher used analytic technique in assess students’ speaking skill (b) the reason why teacher used analytic in assess speaking skill because it’s able to help teacher in measuring what should be measured in increasing speaking skills, teacher can know what is the students’ weakness so teacher can help the students to improve students’ performance and increase learning of speaking skill and the students can know the result specifically so they know in what criteria they should improve." @default.
