- W2758354866 abstract "Soils with clay-enriched subsoil horizon are widespread worldwide. The presence of a distinct red-brown and/or yellow color in Luvisols and Alisols/Acrisols underlines the importance of pedogenic iron oxides in them. Detailed magnetic studies on soil profiles from four Luvisols with different degree of development of eluvial/illuvial horizons, a Rhodic Luvisol (a terra rossa soil), as well as a relict Alisol from Bulgaria are presented in this chapter. Magnetic proxy records of concentration and grain size of pedogenic iron oxides along the profiles, considered in conjunction with the data on magnetic mineralogy of the different soil horizons, provide consistent evidence on the degree of pedogenic development, influence of parent rock iron oxide mineralogy, and the major climate conditions during the soil formation. The obtained data on Bulgarian soils are evaluated in relation to the published magnetic studies on other Luvisols, Alisols, and Acrisols worldwide." @default.
