- W2758680816 abstract "This chapter summarizes the progress that has been made in recent years in developing bulk nanostructured materials to enhance the thermoelectric (TE) performance. The focused materials include Bi-Te alloys, PbSb-based materials, half-Heusler (HH) alloys, skutterudite compounds, and some novel nanostructured high-ZT oxides. The chapter mentions main approaches for improving ZT of TE materials. The development of TE materials has made an impressive progress in improving ZT. The chapter shows ZT as a function of temperature for state-of-the-art p-type and n-type bulk TE materials. The chapter also focuses on recent developments of typical bulk nanostructures/nanocomposites materials with high potential for large scale applications. Half-Heusler alloys are very promising materials for waste heat recovery applications due to their high TE performance, environmental friendliness, high stability, moderate cost, and good mechanical properties. Much effort has been put to find HH compositions and preparation methods that result in optimum TE properties." @default.
