- W2766870111 abstract "Proteomics has been applied primarily to analyze and understand the dynamic biological processes of seed germination. In this study, we analyzed the proteomic profile of Cariniana legalis (Mart.) Kuntze seeds during the germination process using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). After obtaining the 2-DE gels, differentially abundant spots were identified by ESI–LC–MS/MS mass spectrometry. From a total of 80 analyzed spots, 48 proteins were identified and classified into eight functional groups. Many of the identified proteins were involved in carbohydrate metabolic pathways, oxidation–reduction-related proteins, seed germination, regulation of metabolic process, and protein folding. Proteins related to protein folding play an important role in maintaining the stability of proteins required for germination. Comparative analysis revealed a considerable diversity of proteins related to mechanisms of detoxification that help to prevent damage to cellular components caused by oxidative stress. There was an abundant globulin supply, which is a primary source of matter and energy for germination. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to assess the seed germination of C. legalis using physiological and proteomic approaches. The results may help to characterize the molecular processes involved in seed germination, which are important for enhancing propagation techniques that can be applied in conservation programs for this endangered species." @default.
