- W2771765194 abstract "This study explored sourcing patterns and the relationship between frames and sources in the coverage of the steroid issue in baseball through a content analysis of traditional and new media. Contrary to extant research about sourcing in the media, this study found that the media did not use officials as their most frequent sources but relied primarily on baseball players to talk about steroids. Beyond players, however, the media did use governmental and sports officials to provide authoritativeness to their stories. The frame-source relationship showed the strongest correlation between official sources and the policy frame. Officials also tended to be featured in stories dealing with business actors. Finally, the blogs in this sample differed from traditional media in their use of dominant frames and sources." @default.
