- W2774062022 abstract "Multielement (TiZrNbHfTa)N/MoN nitride coatings were deposited on 12X18N9T steel substrate by vacuum arc deposition. All the films were investigated for elemental and phase composition, texture and hardness. X-ray structural analysis revealed the formation of single-solution phases with face-centered crystal structure in all as-deposited coatings. As the substrate bias increased, the preferred orientation of the coatings changed from (Ti-Zr-Nb-Hf-Ta)N (111) to (200) and from γ-Mo 2 N (111) to (200) and (220). The hardness and Young's modulus of the coating were also observed to be related to the change in bias voltage. The hardness and Young's modulus of the (TiZrNbTaHf)N/(MoN) multilayer nitride films deposited at −100 V are 29 and 306 GPa, at −200 V — 33 and 315 GPa and at −300 V — 20 and 349 GPa, respectively. The relatively high hardness can be explained by film densification (due to the energetic ion bombardment) and by higher intensity of (111) more close-packed peaks." @default.
