English Abstract: This study examined the perception of the old age and the preparation level for retirement among the financial planners, and explored the differences between the perception of old age and preparation level according to demographic characteristics. We used the data from 248 financial planners of life insurance company, working in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. SPSS 18.0 for frequency analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, t-test (verification) and one-way ANOVA (One-way analysis of variance) was used. Analysis variables include demographic characteristics such as gender, age, marriage status, education, religion, dependents, financial planner's career, monthly average income, the views on aging, the consciousness of preparing for retirement, successful age awareness, the preparation of old age. The results indicate that the necessity for economic preparation for stable aging is highly recognised, while that of physical readiness is insufficient. Most of the respondents expressed low level of preparation to the physical changes, sexual desire, economic support, and relationship with their children as well. Another finding also showed that such methods for retirement planning as public pension funds, bank installment savings, real estate and stock investments are well perceived by the financial planners. Finally, the differences in perception of old age are correlated with differences in the preparation level for retirement: the financial planners who score higher on the perception of old age are more likely to be engaged in the financial preparation for their retirements. This literature implies this paper provides useful information for financial planning practitioners who need to support their clients’ financial planning for retirement and to explain the necessity of perception of old age, and recommends to extend to the level of not only physical but also socio-emotional preparation for retirement." @default.
