This chapter discusses LIFT of metals, with an emphasis on the laser absorption, heat transfer, and related process parameters that control LIFT. It also discusses the fundamental laser-material interactions, and reviews early experimental and numerical studies, followed by more recent developments such as droplet-based transfer and lift-off and advanced numerical models. The use of LIFT for transferring metals involves direct laser heating at the interface between the film and the donor substrate. The chapter also reviews the studies on the various parameters that influence LIFT of metals, organized in terms of laser fluence, film thickness, donor-acceptor gap spacing, and pulse width." @default.
