- W2788407513 abstract "ABSTRACT Soil stabilization is the process of altering the engineering properties. Soil properties would be altered by adding waste like plastic from beverage bottles, steel dust and wood waste. In present scenario disposal of plastic waste has become a major issue because plastic materials can take many years (above 400 years) for its decomposition and may cause severe damage to environment and human health. The problem which was associated with plastic waste can be reduced by utilizing this plastic waste as one of the civil engineering material as stabilizing agent for the expansive soils. The economy of a construction is depending upon the type of construction of sub-structure. If the soil is not adequate to resist the load than alternatives should be check (structural or soil modification). The soil modification is economic when compared with structural modification. The expansive soils are one of the major soil deposits in India. These types of soils can exhibit high shrinkage and swelling characteristics and have less strength. This paper concentrated about the behavior of the soil and improvement of soil characteristics by addition of plastic waste, steel dust and wood waste with assumed proportions. Keywords: stabilization, plastic, steel dust, wood waste, soil properties. Cite this Article Rajasekhar Reddy V, Rahul Krishna G.
