- W2788963605 abstract "Lenneis et al. explore how female fans balance the competing demands from work, family and leisure activities—including watching football. The chapter also investigates the reasons why women try so hard to find time for their ‘football addiction’. Drawing on social constructivist approaches to gender, concepts of ‘imagined communities’ and on work and leisure integration, interviews were conducted with 12 fans in Denmark. The findings consider how female fans attempt to integrate football in their everyday life. While some women manage to combine competing demands, for example, by sharing their passion with their family, others have to reduce their engagement for their football team for periods of time. But all interviewees were sure that their attachment to their football club will last forever." @default.
