- W2789411191 abstract "Underwater communication has a range of applications including autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) communication and docking in the offshore industry. As the available acoustic communication has the limited data rate can, i.e., up to tens of kbps for distances ranging in kilometers and up to hundreds of kbps for distances of few meters. Whereas underwater wireless optical communication capable of providing higher data rate for short range and can be a viable alternative in short range underwater applications. In this paper, the main focus is to understand the effect of underwater environment condition and different water types on underwater optical links that influence the performance of the system. The optical properties of ocean water have a notable impact on underwater wireless optical systems when considering the reliability and viability of underwater optical links. The main aim is to understand and construct ocean water channel model to develop a power link budget which includes the effects of absorption and scattering for realistic ocean water." @default.
