- W2792052904 abstract "The rarity of small bowel cancers, representing 5% of gastrointestinal tract malignancies, and the vague nature of their presentation makes their diagnosis quite challenging. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan, enteroclysis, CT-enteroclysis, magnetic resonance-entroclysis, positron emission tomography-CT, wireless capsule endoscopy and double balloon enteroscopy are the radiologic and endoscopic modalities used for the diagnosis of small bowel cancers. In patients with some conditions known to be associated with increased risk of small bowel cancers, small bowel screening can be recommended. Complete surgical resection is the single best potentially curative treatment. Systemic recurrence is a common outcome and is associated with mortality. In this chapter on adenocarcinoma and lymphoma of the small bowel, we will review the incidence, risk factors, diagnostic workup, staging, treatment modalities, and follow-up/survivorship care." @default.
