- W2800143744 abstract "The catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated molecules, such as olefins, ketones, and amides, is an important and widely used reaction in synthetic chemistry and energy-related applications. Similarly, there is also synthetic value in the microscopic reverse dehydrogenation reactions to generate unsaturated compounds. Traditionally, both catalytic hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions have been performed by systems based on relatively rare precious metals. In the last decade, there has been considerable interest in the development of catalysts based on Earth-abundant first-row transition metals, such as iron, which offer advantages in sustainability and in some cases can facilitate novel reactions. The development of catalysts based on first-row transition metals has been enabled in part due to the tunable steric and electronic properties of pincer ligands, and the stability they impart on metal complexes. Here, we describe recent progress in the development of pincer supported iron catalysts for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions." @default.
