- W2800841036 abstract "Human motion analysis provides quantitative information about the movement of the musculoskeletal system during various motor tasks. Optoelectronic systems represent the most widespread technological solution for the estimation of human motion. Several errors limiting the accuracy of the acquisition of this information can occur during in vivo motion analysis, such as instrumental errors, marker placement errors, and soft tissue artifacts. The representation of the overall motion of the spine is extremely complex because of the large number of joints involved; nevertheless, several protocols to study spine motion have been presented. In this chapter, an overview of optoelectronic systems, the different protocols used to monitor trunk kinematics, and their limitations and clinical applications, specifically in orthopedic pathologies such as idiopathic scoliosis and low back pain, are presented. Moreover, wearable sensors and their potential and limits in motion analysis are described." @default.
