- W2802670141 abstract "Ventricular interaction coupled with septal contractile mechanisms plays a major role in the appearance of individual ventricular pressure waveforms. As part of many training programs, a comparison of simultaneous right and left ventricular pressures during combined complete hemodynamic studies is routinely performed. This chapter reviews the characteristic configuration and significance of the diastolic ventricular pressure tracings in the patients. Simultaneous right and left ventricular pressures are easily measured during pullback of the balloon-tipped catheter from the pulmonary artery to the right ventricle while a ventriculography (pigtail) catheter remains within the left ventricle. In assessing the ventricular pressures, four features are examined: the A waves; the rates of systolic pressure rise; the position of the right ventricular pressure within the left ventricular tracing; and the rate of diastolic pressure decline and mid-diastolic upslope." @default.
