This has led to a growing trend inmobile payment (m-payment) activities. However, Zambia’s mobile paymentservices have not evolved in step with mobile devices’ penetration rate. Thisempirical study sought to examine consumer’s behavioral intention to use or not-usem-payment services through the applicability of the renowned extended TechnologyAcceptance Model (TAM) framework.A self-administered questionnaire was developed and distributed to current-users,capable-users, regulators, bank staff and merchants within Lusaka. A total of 152participants completed the survey questionnaires measuring their responses toPerceived usefulness (PU), Perceived ease of use(PEOU), Perceived risk(PR), Socialnorm(SN), Perceived cost(PC) and Behavioral Intention to Use(BIU), representing aresponse rate of 84.4 percent.SPSS was used to analyse results yielding a model linear regression Pearsoncorrelation coefficient(R) value of 0.8 and significance (p) value of 0.0001 indicatinga significant model with very strong relationship among variables. The R values forindependent factors PEOU, PU and SN against dependent variable BUI werepositive with significance(p) values of 0.0001(p<0.05) representing a scientificallyand statistically significant positive influence on BUI, whilst PC(-.071) and PR(-.047) had negative coefficient values representing a deterrent influence on use of mpayment.The research further demonstrated that technological factors of NFC-MicroSD influenced the Pearson coefficients of PC(.124) and PR(.285) to change in thedirection against negative influence. This study showed that the Model can be usedto predict behavioral intention to use of m-payment providing insights into strategiesto design and deploy m-payment services that may yield higher consumer adoptionfor m-Payment services in Zambia." @default.
