• W2804328606 abstract "In order to achieve the central goal of the mGBL project, the objectives of work package (WP6) are planning, implementation and coordination of user trials of the developed game based m-learning platform within the user groups. The first part of this work package (WP6) - “ Detail user trial concept” is the conceptual design (preparation of the user tests, design of methodologies and instruments) for the application of the m-learning-platform, resulting from prior work packages and developed throughout the projects within the user trials. This concept is elaborated within five main parts, as following: Introduction, User trials framework, Planning of user trials in WP6, Methodology and implementation for user trials and Coordination. In part, named User trial framework, is given the mGBL framework, respecting the usability and usefulness of the mGBL prototype game templates and examples as alternative or supplement to traditional teaching process. If a new technology and product are to harmoniously become part of everyday life, it most be accepted by its users. Therefore, in this part is also analyzed Theoretic view of user trials as typical experimental method in which a group of users test the versions of products under controlled conditions. Great attention is given to the Planning of user trails in WP6. In this part of deliverable D 6.1 is presented plan of user trails in WP6. Planning of trials is divided in four milestones: Detailed user trial concept, First user trial report, Second user trial report and Final test report. Detailed user trial concept is represented in this document in detail, while for each other milestones of plan are given the main principles. As important thing in planning of the user trails, for every user trail are defined following main activities: Preparing activities, Collecting data, Data Analysis, Report, Collecting reports, and Final report. Since PPRI need to collect reports from other partners and make a final report at the end of every reporting period, above mentioned activities are defined separately for PFRI and for other partners in project. In this part are also defined principles on which the project evaluation methodology should be based on. These principles are: initial review of project users, periodic review of project overall functioning and benefits of participation, user trial evaluation aimed at the supporting the development of the different phases and of the outputs foresees in the project development, and summary evaluation examining the outcomes and impact of the project at regional, national and European level. Methodology and implementation for user trials, as following part of detail user plan concept is defined according to: Principles for user trials evaluation, User roles, Methodology tools, Procedures and Facilities and Equipment. As Principles of user trials are defined Evaluation aims, Users analysis, Matching with the project life-cycle, Selecting appropriate methods and tools, Main evaluation activities and Support learning process. User roles give the answers on questions about: who the different users are, what kinds of questions they are asking, how they will be involved in the project, and what kind of data or information needs to be provided at different stages in the project life-cycle to inform their decision-making? In consideration with a goal of the project, in this part are also defined three types (roles) of users involved in user trials of the mGBL prototype game templates: students (focused group - end users), teachers (developers - using the platform of the learning games) and community - the games are expected to serve the needs of wide range of people and their environments which will used the games, or which will have some benefits from using the games). In part named Methodology tools are stated and described tools which will be used in user trials. These tools are: Questionnaires (Initial Review Questionnaire, Questionnaire for Students at the Beginning of Test, Questionnaire for Students at the End of Test, Questionnaire for Teachers at the Beginning of Test, Questionnaire for Teachers at the End of Test, Questionnaire for Teachers about Platform, ) Structure Groups Discussion and Web Tools (Chat, Forum, Blog). Before concrete implementation procedure of Questionnaires, Discussion and Web tools, some important theoretical features about these tools are given. All of questionnaires are represented and illustrated in Appendixes at the end of this material. As important part of Methodology and implementation for user trials, are described Procedures of user trials, including testing phase and data analysis, as well as Facilities and Equipment which is necessary and available for clear and detail protocol of testing. Coordination between mGBL Partner is very important step in achieving the success of user trials and mGBL Project.
