- W2808959574 abstract "Abstract Polymeric gels especially hydrogel have found various uses in medical field from drug delivery vehicles to scaffold in tissue engineering. The basic use of polymers was to entrap the biomolecules/bioactive compounds. Advancement in polymer chemistry led to the development of many novel characteristic (conductivity, shape change or volume change) based polymers like conductive polymers and stimuli-responsive polymers. These polymers due to their novel characteristic can play a major role in the development of novel biosensors by helping in signal propagating medium or by directly detecting the analyte. Biosensor is defined as a device that uses specific biochemical reactions mediated by isolated enzymes, immunosystems, tissues, organelles or whole cells to detect chemical compounds usually by electrical, thermal or optical signals. The use of different type of polymers in biosensor development has been discussed in this chapter." @default.
