- W28176099 abstract "This chapter presents the comparison of the effects of mild proteolysis and irreversible acetylcholinesterase inhibition on neuromuscular transmission. It is found that with the irreversible AChE inhibitor, methanesulfonyl fluoride in 1 mM concentration for one hour completely inhibits the end plate AChE. It is reasonable to assume that additional treatment of the same muscle with a protease, which detaches the end plate AChE, should not affect the time course of the end plate potential provided that each procedure, when used separately, completely abolishes the AChE activity. The results show that once the muscle was treated with 1 mM MSF, incubation with papaine induced no further change of either rise time or half time of the end plate potential. This is compatible with the view that MSF as well as papaine affect junctional AChE only." @default.
