- W2862781569 abstract "Runway capacity evaluation is an important and foundational work for planning runway configuration scientifically, arranging flights schedules reasonably, and implementing air traffic flow management accurately. In order to solve capacity evaluation problem for parallel two runways, several factors affecting runway capacity were analyzed in this paper. The Monte Carlo method was used to simulate the randomness of certain factors, such as runway allocation, aircraft type allocation, takeoff or landing type allocation, fix point allocation and flights sequence. After that, according to the principle of discrete event systems, the departure or arrival time of each flight was computed recursively, and then the runways capacity was calculated. Take Xi'an airport with two parallel runways for example, the runways capacity is calculated for three operation modes, including related approach which is used now, independent approach and isolated operation. The simulation results show that the runways capacity is 60, 78 and 52 aircrafts/hour for each operation modes and average simulation time is only about 1min. Compare with current 61 aircrafts in peak hour in 2015, the difference is just 1 aircraft. The results indicate that the method presented in this paper is efficient and effective, and independent approach operation mode can improve runway capacity." @default.
