- W28729631 abstract "The local diversity and the taxon turnover of the epigeous arthropod fauna of five representative types of high moun- tain vegetation were analyzed at the paramo La Parada del Viento, Cundinamarca, Eastern Cordillera (Colombian Andes). The experimental design used two sets of ten pitfall traps per habitat type separated from each other by 10 m. 387 individuals were collected, belonging to 12 orders and 61 families. Carabidae (Hexapoda, Coleoptera) was the most abundant family. The great- est similarity (smallest turnover) was evident at the Romeral and Frailejonal habitats. The degree of arthropod species richness in the wetlands studied is connected with three fundamental processes in the vegetation: floristic diversity, regeneration mechanisms and phenophases; these three factors together are responsible for the richness and assemblages of its arthropod communities. Any conservation programs implemented at the paramo La Parada del Viento should address the maintenance of these three processes in a model of ecosystem management." @default.
