• W2883088108 abstract "This study is conducted at analyzing verb patterns in reading text of English Textbook “Grow with English” at Elementary School of the Sixth Grade. This study is intended to identify the English verb patterns of the reading textbook and the English verb patterns are mostly used in the reading textbook.There are eight reading texts in the course book, and the researcher takes all the texts as data.This study used descriptive qualitative method. Qualitative method is used because this research does not deal with number at all but the data are in the form of words, utterances, and sentences. In addition, the data are not analyzed in statistical procedures. This design is used, because the data in the form of text. Therefore, this research describes about the type of English sentence and the use of the types of English sentences used in Reading Text on English Textbook “Grow with English” for Elementary School of the Sixth Grade.Based on the findings of the study, some conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of the verb pattern used in reading text on text book for Elementary School of the Sixth Grade as follows: (1.) Verb patterns found in reading texts in Textbook “Grow with English” at Elementary School of the Sixth Grade; There are 25 types of verb patterns as the base of categorizing the data of research, Verb Pattern 1-25. In fact, in the data of research, not all verb patterns are found and applied in the reading passages. There are 131 sentences that comprise of Verb Pattern 1 (30 sentences), Verb Pattern 2 (18 sentences), Verb Pattern 3 (8 sentences), Verb Pattern 4 (4 sentences), Verb Pattern 5 (1 sentence), Verb Pattern 6 (38 sentences), Verb Pattern 7 (2 sentences), Verb Pattern 10 (5 sentences), Verb Pattern 12 (3 sentences), Verb Pattern 15 (20 sentences), Verb Pattern 18 (3 sentences), and Verb Pattern 22 (3 sentences). (2.) Verb patterns are mostly found in reading texts in English Textbook “Grow with English” at Elementary School of the Sixth Grade; The most applied verb patterns owned by data from reading passage III and IV. And the least applied verb patterns are owned by data of reading passage II. Type of Verb Patterns mostly used in reading text on “Grow with English” text book for Elementary School of the Sixth Grade are Verb Pattern 1 and 6 that mostly use simple sentences because this text book is designed for Sixth Grade of Elementary level and using of simple sentences in the reading passage is appropriate for the students easy to comprehend and communicate clearly." @default.
