- W2883840686 abstract "The fully-biodegradable composite rod with Mg-2Zn wires reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) for potential application in orthopedic internal fixation was prepared by hot-press method in this work. We performed different surface modifications on Mg-2Zn wires including micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and chemical conversion using dopamine (DA), hydrogen fluoride acid (HF) and γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550). In contrast, MAO treatment significantly improved the interfacial bonding between wires and PLA matrix due to the strong electrostatic interaction and the micro-anchoring interaction according to single wire pull-out experiments and molecular dynamic simulation. The surface roughness of wires after MAO is 192.0 ± 5.0 nm, most of pore size are in the range of 0.5–1.5 μm and the average interface thickness is about 1.5 μm. The essential reason leading to the differences of interfacial bonding is revealed from atomic level, which is useful for optimizing the preparation technology of Mg-2Zn wires/PLA composite rod." @default.
