As one of the most promising strategies to storage renewable energy as well as curb the anthropogenic CO2 emissions, the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 has aroused intensive attention in recent years. Despite tremendous effort devoted by scientists, the unsatisfactory activity and selectivity of the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 is still one of the major obstacles delaying its large-scale adoption. In this review, We focus on recent developments of electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 catalyzed by single site catalysts including porphyrin and single-atom-based catalysts. We also demonstrate the catalytic mechanisms on single site catalysts and in-depth understanding of their outstanding catalytic performance." @default.
