Proper weight operators scale the migration to become an approximate inverse of the Born modeling operator. We extend wave-equation based techniques developed for approximate inversion of constant density acoustics to variable density acoustics. Accordingly, seismic reflection data may be matched by a proper choice of extended bulk modulus and density perturbations. Estimation for those acoustic model perturbations is recovered from the angle-dependent response of Born’s approximate inverse application. We describe the essential steps for constructing the variable density acoustic approximate inverse, and demonstrate a multi-parameter inversion for bulk modulus and density perturbations.Presentation Date: Thursday, October 18, 2018Start Time: 8:30:00 AMLocation: 206A (Anaheim Convention Center)Presentation Type: OralKeywords: AVO/AVA, inversion, acoustic, reverse time migration, reflectivityPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2018-2996799.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byAccelerating the multi-parameter least-squares reverse time migration using an appropriate preconditioner15 September 2021 | Computational Geosciences, Vol. 25, No. 6The importance of including density in multiparameter asymptotic linearized direct waveform inversion: a case study from the Eastern Nankai Trough5 October 2021 | Geophysical Journal International, Vol. 228, No. 2From acoustic to elastic inverse extended Born modeling: A first insight in the marine environmentMilad Farshad and Hervé Chauris19 October 2021 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 86, No. 6Sparsity-promoting multiparameter pseudoinverse Born inversion in acoustic mediaMilad Farshad and Hervé Chauris8 April 2021 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 86, No. 3Angle‐domain imaging of relative impedance perturbation7 August 2020 | Geophysical Prospecting, Vol. 68, No. 8From constant- to variable-density inverse extended Born modelingMilad Farshad and Hervé Chauris5 June 2020 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 85, No. 4 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2018ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2018 Pages: 5520 publication data© 2018 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 27 Aug 2018 CITATION INFORMATION Raanan Dafni and William W.
