- W2890140300 abstract "This paper reports muscle coordination strategies in human workers who operate a non-powered lifting device for general assembly (GA) tasks. Support vector machine (SVM) was applied to classify motion states of operators using electromyography (EMG) signals collected from 15 upper limb, lower limb, shoulder, and torso muscles. Specifically, two classifiers were trained to identify the direction of acceleration and the direction of velocity. Classification results showed that the performance of acceleration classification was higher than that of velocity classification. In addition, upper limb muscle activities yielded the highest classification accuracy. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to identify key body muscles that are highly correlated with body movements. Wrist muscles and ankle muscles were considered to have greater significance in identifying the change of motion states than other investigated muscles. When operating similar lift assist device where the requirement of load positioning is more critical than load bearing, activities of small and distal muscles are more valuable than larger muscles in motion classification." @default.
