- W2890883478 abstract "Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have been established as one of the most capable modern materials to replace conventional metals and alloys in several structural and tribological applications in recent years. These FRP composites are being fabricated using thermoplastics and thermosets such as matrix and synthetic and natural fibers as reinforcements along with small amounts of inorganic and organic materials as fillers. This chapter investigates the possibility of using jute/glass fiber as reinforcement in polyester resin for tribological applications. Hybrid composites of jute and glass fiber woven mat were fabricated using hand layup method. Tribological properties of various composites fabricated by varying the layer sequence and its performances were evaluated through pin-on-disk (P-o-D) equipment. To understand the outcome of parameters on the friction and wear characteristics of fabricated polymer and composite materials, the damaged surface of the specimens is examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images." @default.
