- W2891062495 abstract "Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely used in the field of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), and its triple functionality in DSSC applications makes it a more promising and interesting material. The triple functionality means the use of CNTs in the three main components of DSSCs such as photoanode, counter electrode (CE), and electrolyte additive. CNTs are considered promising electrocatalysts for triiodide reduction due to their excellent electrical conductivity and electrocatalytic properties. This chapter describes the utilization and development of CNTs as electrocatalysts for the reduction of triiodide in the I-mediated DSSCs and their mechanism for the improved photovoltaic performance. CNTs have unique and incredible mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal properties that make it potential and excellent materials for electronic devices. In the carbon family, graphene has also been proposed as the alternate CE materials for DSSCs. The chapter discusses the applications of CNTs, functionalized CNTs, and their composites with various compounds as CE materials in DSSCs." @default.
