- W2891161389 abstract "Panum's limiting case is one of the most basic configurations in monocular occlusions. The previous studies have shown that the disparity-sign processing affected the depth perception in other configurations of monocular occlusions, e.g., da Vinci stereopsis. However, there is no study to examine the condition in Panum's limiting case. Moreover, although the previous researches have investigated the neural correlation of vertical disparity gradient and cue conflict in Panum's stimuli, no study have considered if there is difference among different stimulus types. The current study aimed to determine the relationship between the two determinants (stimulus type, disparity-sign processing) and perceptual learning in monocular occlusions. The reaction times and duration of double fusion was measured when twenty-six participants viewed different Panum's stimuli. The stimulus type was manipulated for Frisby, Gillam and Wang configurations. The disparity-sign processing was changed for crossed and uncrossed disparity. The results revealed that for each level of the two factors, the reaction times of double fusion decreased and the duration of double fusion increased with training. Moreover, the main effect of stimulus type was significant, while the main effect of disparity-sign processing was not significant. The interaction effect of the two factors was significant. These results suggest that that there is perceptual learning for disparity-sign processing and stimulus type in Panum's limiting case." @default.
