Unfortunately, efforts to clarify affective objectives and to deliberately introduce affective learning into the elementary science curriculum have not been particularly easy (Raizen et al., 1989). Affective objectives are the planned outcomes of affective learning. Some teachers see affective objectives as irrelevant or unattainable, whereas other teachers want to attain them, but find that their efforts to do so erode over time. According to Ringness (1975), this erosion occurs because the attainment of affective objectives is a slow process and because these objectives are hard to evaluate. Philosophical, political, and legal embranglements often accompany teachers' attempts to evaluate and grade pupils' affective achievement. Teachers do not want their instruction to be perceived as indoctrination." @default.
