Kiasma comes from the word chiasmus “entanglement”,collected from Merleau-Ponty’s book “The visible and theinvisible” and was the motto used by Steven Holl in the contestfor the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki. Kiasma is,therefore, the interweaving of two anatomical structures; theone formed by the individual and the world that perceives, inshort, its atmospheres. The purpose of this TFG is to analyze the decisivephenomenological dimensions of human experience inarchitecture and the appropiation of space that is carried outin numerous interventions. Atmosphere is everything thatsurrounds us and makes us part of the experience of ourbeing in the world, through the senses or a peripheral visionthat beyond contemplating these aspects as a mere spectator, includes us within our own lived experience.Faced with a classic ocularcentrism, this idea is abandoned, just as we repress our sight in accentuated emotional statesand deep thoughts. Be part of the reading and analysis of the texts collected by Steven Holl, Juhani Pallasmaa and PeterZumthor, to go on to analyze in a series of architectural worksthe same concepts collected through the Renaissance systemof the cosmic body. In the Renaissance it was considered thatthe five senses formed a hierarchical system, from the highestsense of sight to the lowest sense of touch. The Renaissancesystem of the senses was related to the image of the cosmicbody; the vision was correlated with fire and light, hearingwith air, smell with steam, taste with water and touch withthe earth.Once this point of departure has been reached, a re-readingof contemporary spaces and installations is proposed in orderto achieve an understanding of the mechanisms that regulatethe spatial transformation and the memory that the individualperceives. A search for aspects not only common amongthe different projects, but evolutionary, transformation andapplication, in order to know the generating element of thedifferent spaces. It will establish, therefore, an identification, analysis, definition and classification of the mechanisms, locating or mapping a Multi-Sensorial Atlas that will allowthe experimentation of these atmospheres within the Atelieras interaction and connection to the architectural imaginary." @default.
