Using themeta-synthesis descriptive method, I analyzed andinterpreted the findings of four research studiesconducted between 1995-2016 that includedin-depth interviews with Asian Indian immigrant womenwho experienced domestic violence. The analysisfocuses on changes of the patterns of abuse, helping behavior, andleaving the abusive marriage as an option. The changes in U.S.domestic violence legislation and policyregarding immigration and domestic violence have had animpact on Asian Indian women's behavior towardthe DV to some extent, but stigma associatedwith divorce, fear of being ostracized by thefamily and the Asian Indian community in the US aswell in India have had more impact on women'sbehavior." @default.
