- W2892297680 abstract "Computer Numeric Control (CNC) is specialized form of soft automation and it has wide range of various applications. Precisely programmed commands encoded on a storage medium are used for automation of machine tools in the CNC machines. End to end component design is highly automated using DSP processor in the modern CNC systems. The problem with the existing system is that PC system needs to connect to the CNC system as communication take place through the RS232 protocol. RS232 communication is very slow in terms of speed, so use of it is very inefficient for the latest CNC systems where fast processing is most important factor. This experiment replaces the RS232 communication by USB communication and can increase the speed from 115.2 Kbps to 12 Mbps. This experiment is concentrated on designing the USB 2.0 based FAT32 file management for CNC system using the control card of TMS320F28377D processor. TMS320F28377D is a dual core DSP processor by Texas Instruments with c28xx core and feature of flash programming. This processor is mainly designed for high end and real time applications such as industrial drives and motor control applications. The control card of this processor has USB 2.0 port so USB driver and FAT32 file system can be designed and USB flash programming for CNC system can be done to increase the processing speed. USB communication is used for CNC to continuously work with the system. In USB communication maximum 127 devices can be connected at a time using USB hubs which is not possible in case of RS232 communication. Designing of file system for CNC machine reduces the file processing and tool processing time to a great extent." @default.
