- W2892404908 abstract "The fully secure communication systems require true single-photon sources (SPS) at wavelengths compatible with existing fibre networks. Nowadays, the efforts are especially devoted to improvement of quantum emitters’ performances and realization of practical devices. In this contribution, there are overviewed the recent achievements in the development of quantum dot (QD)-based SPS in two different material systems of InGaAs/GaAs suitable for 1.3 µm and InAs on InP for 1.3 – 1.55 µm spectral range. The issues of improving the single photon emission purity and their temperature stability are elaborated in view of the underlying physics of excitonic complexes confined in such nanostructures. Placing QDs in photonic structures for controlling the emission extraction efficiency and prospects for realization of compact, cryogenic-free sources operating at telecom wavelengths are also addressed." @default.
