- W2893118416 abstract "It is important to accurately predict the wind energy distribution on the terrain for proper selection of suitable sites for installing wind farms. This paper presented the airflow turbulent structure of the flow field around a two-dimensional hill model placed in a boundary layer flow with wind tunnel experiments. In order to evaluate the natural wind effect on the proposed model by wind tunnel experiments, an active turbulence grid generating the turbulent flow and a boundary layer generation frame for reproducing the vertical distribution of the atmospheric boundary layer were installed in the wind tunnel outlet. Investigations of the flow field were carried out using a PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system capable of non-contact and multiport simultaneous measurement. As a result, it was found that the wind velocity was increased along the hill upstream slope and the flow was separated at the top of the hill. Moreover, the recirculation zone of the 1H model hill was larger than that of the 2H model hill. The turbulence intensity on the topside of the hill was higher than that in the 1H model. Meanwhile, the turbulence intensity behind the hill became small. This experimental analysis has been established as an important design tool, validating the wind parameters, so as to make power generation more accurate and reliable in complex terrain." @default.
