- W2893206916 abstract "This study was carried out to evaluate the quality of broccoli silage produced in various locations in Sulaimani Governorate. The three locations were: Piramagrun in Swse village (PSv), Sangaw in Kripchna village (SKv), and Bazyan in Kanishaetan village (BKv). Broccoli plants were harvested at maturity for making silage. A total of 500kg of harvested broccoli were collected from leaves and stem from each location, then chopped, put in polyethylene bags and stored for 52 days in plastic barrels for the physiochemical tests evaluation. The results showed that the dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), and nitrogen free extract (NFE) % in silage of SKv were lower compared to silage of PSv and BKv. In contrast, these values of ensiled broccoli in SKv, such as ether extract (EE), ash, crude fiber (CF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), acid detergent lignin ADL, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) % were higher compared to the other two locations. The lactic acid, acetic acid%, lactic: acetic ratio and pH did not have significant differences among silages. The butyric acid% was significantly lowered (p<0.05) in both PSv and BKv compared to SKv silage. The highest Fleig points were 106.393 and 102.138 in PSv and BKv silages, respectively. Conversely, the lowest value of Fleig point was noticed in SKv silage (83.024). The highest Ca and Mg % were found in SKv silage compared to other locations. On the other hand, the highest P and K% contents were found in BKv silage, and it was significantly different from other silages (p<0.05). The greatest metabolizable energy ME (MJ/kg DM) and net energy for lactation (NEL ) were significantly (p<0.05) higher in PSv and BKv silages, while the least total digestible nutrient (TDN) % content was found in SKv broccoli silage. The in vitro digestible protein (IVCPD %) was the same among various locations. In conclusion, broccoli silages had significant differences in chemical composition, acid composition, macro element contents, and energetic value, though the PSv silage was the best kind, then BKv and SKv, respectively. It is recommended that soil fertility, feeding trial to investigate palatability, intake of silage by ruminants, and feed conversion ratio should be studied." @default.
