- W2893417602 abstract "Abstract Obesity, perhaps best conceptualized as the presence of abnormal or excess body fat that impairs health, can potentially affect every organ system as well as significantly reduce mobility and well being. However, it is important to note that not every presenting complaint in a patient with obesity is causally related to their excess body fat. Thus, based on whether a presenting complaint or condition is causally related, merely aggravated by, or entirely unrelated to their excess body fat, one can differentiate between primary, secondary, and tertiary indications for weight loss. As our capacity to achieve and sustain relevant weight loss in clinical practice advances, the application of this differential framework to indications for weight-loss recommendations may help guide clinical decision-making and ensure better outcomes in our patients." @default.
