- W2893627186 abstract "After stressing the fact that military intervention is the most drastic from of intervention by threatening with use of armed power or other means, or by using them, with the purpose of subjugating the will of the adversary, the author proceeds with explaining the substance, goals and characteristics of different forms of military intervention. He considers the military intervention an equivalent or from of the armed aggression, a crime against the international peace and security, and a legally forbidden action, which cannot be justified by any reason or circumstance. He points out the real danger of transformation of peace-keeping and 'humanitarian' operations launched under the mandate of the UN Security Council to a foreign military intervention and aggression if the forces of the UN or a military alliance or coalition, operating with or without mandate of the UN, become transformed to combat forces and align themselves with a party to an internal conflict in a state, and thus themselves become a party to that conflict. Military interventions were in most cases launched by a coalition or group of states, so that in this manner could be disguised imperialistic and hegemonistic motives of great powers and their decisive participation under the pretext of 'international action', and thus avoid the condemnation of the intervention on the part of both the world public and the United Nations. The author considers that there exist different strategies of military intervention, depending of its goal and form, on the engaged forces and means, on the methods of their use, on the situation in internationals relations and in the country wherein the intervention is taking place, and on other relevant factors. He proceeds with consideration of different forms or types of strategies applied in military interventions - strategy of application of pressures or intimidation, strategy of attrition, strategy of subjugation followed by pacification, strategy of repeated sudden strikes by armed forces, strategy of destruction, and strategy consisting of different combinations of strategies listed above. The author stresses the fact that the rapid military intervention forces are an instrument of the power politics and interventionism of a number of great or regional powers. He considers that military interventions and interventions of other forms or nature, also internal armed conflicts, are the greatest threat to the security of small states, first of al of those that are situated within the zones of 'vital interests' of great powers, of states which do not have sufficient forces for either deterring or thwarting a foreign military intervention." @default.
