- W289396021 abstract "Charged particles of the same sign were previously found to diffuse in both longitudinal and crosswise directions within the magnetic field (Doklady Akad. Nauk SSSR 148, No. 5 (1963)), making it possible to determine the diffusion by changes in the field parameters; losses start to appear at densities of 10/sup 5/ particles/cm/sup 3/. The study was extended to a consideration of the movemert of charged particles of different signs and masses exposed to the effect of longitudinal magnetic ftelds, taking scattering into account. These phenomena are considered as the diffusion of nonhomogeneous plasma. The derived equations were solved by a special computer program. The results, although incomplete, allow the conclusion that because of the movement of the electrons, the ideal condition of the plasma is destroyed; the electrons are accelerated, while their energy spectra become less sharp. The results were used for the preparation of a computer model of the phenomenon. Two specific cases were considered: application of a negative field to positively charged particles placed in a regular spatial lattice and consideration of the accelerating mechanism, i.e., of the positive charge, across the uniform space lattice. The final results did not indicate a noticeable improvement of the confinement conditionsmore » of the particles. (TTT)« less" @default.
