- W2894499620 abstract "Multifunctional nanocomposites have many benefits over conventional structural materials in the way that non-load-bearing capabilities can be incorporated; including, but not limited to wear-resistance, optical transparency, stimuli-responsiveness, surficial wettability, recyclability, and biodegradability. This chapter will introduce epoxy-based multifunctional nanocomposites based on the manipulation of nanoparticle configurations, management of the reflective index, and dispersions of matrix-compatible and temperature-active polymers. The nanoparticles are halloysite nanotubes (HNT), and the dispersive molecules are cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB). Concentrations of both HNT and CAB, and processing viscosities, were optimized for structural and functional behaviors. The generated nanocomposites displayed improved modulus and hardness, and had a longer durable life, transparency, and self-cleaning and self-healing properties. Applications of coatings of this kind can be used on solar cell panels, wind turbines, vehicles, and aircraft." @default.
