Varying the magnetic configuration of the electrodes provided a change in electric current to produce tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). Compared to naphthalene, azulene had a relatively high TMR ratio in the low bias range from −0.2 V to 0.2 V. Moreover, the electric current of the oligomers of azulene was calculated. The oligomers did not significantly decrease the electric current compared to azulene and maintained the TMR ratio in the low bias range. The smaller energy gap of azulene compared to that of naphthalene increased the transmittance at the Fermi level that resulted in a steep change in the electric current upon varying the magnetic configuration of the electrodes." @default.
