Porr Bau GmbH has been working since the end of 2016 with the subsidiary PNC on the first tunnelling project for the company in Norway. The project Fv.17 is located in Nordland, 10 km south of the Arctic Circle. The narrow coastal road is to be upgraded with two new tunnels. The Norwegian fjords are well known as vacation destinations and for their nature, but building tunnels in this environment is challenging, and the rock conditions are also demanding. The rock types described in the tender changed, leading to high water inflow. Systematic rock grouting needed to be carried out to finish the tunnel drive. Die Porr Bau GmbH errichtet mit ihrem Tochterunternehmen PNC seit Ende 2016 ihr erstes Tunnelbauwerk in Norwegen. Das Projekt Fylkesveg (Fv.17) liegt in der Provinz Nordland rund 10 km südlich des Polarkreises. Hier ist eine Engstelle an der Küstenstraße durch zwei neu zu errichtende Tunnels zu umgehen. Die Fjorde von Norwegen sind hinlänglich als Urlaubsziel bekannt, für die Tunnelbauer stellen sie jedoch eine Herausforderung dar. Touristen genießen hier die Abgeschiedenheit und Ruhe in den Sommermonaten zur Zeit der Mitternachtssonne. Gerade aber diese gewaltige Natur sorgt in den Wintermonaten für wochenlange Finsternis und eisige Temperaturen. Dies beeinflusst die Arbeiten. Eine weitere Herausforderung liegt im Fels. Die in den Vertragsunterlagen beschriebene Geologie stellte sich während der Vortriebsarbeiten als anspruchsvoller dar als ursprünglich erwartet.
